After a year teaching in a Secondary School in Swaziland, she obtained a B.Sc. in Physics at Durham University and then a Doctorate in Experimental Nuclear Physics at Oxford University in 1980. After working as a Research Officer for 7 years in the Nuclear Physics Department at Oxford she moved to Molecular Biophysics in 1987. Her main research interest is the development and optimisation of data collection techniques for macromolecular crystallography.
Update: On 22nd April 2009 she was elected as the president of the British Crystallographic association.

Education:

Dr.rer.nat from Universität Leipzig, Germany. Crystallographic studies on rigid body motions in the enzymes 5'-nucleotidase and hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase.

About:

Karthik is on his first postdoc working in the EU-NEST FP6 project on X-ray studies of multiple single crystals. His favorite pastime is coding and learning natural languages.
